Loss of the F/V Thunderhawk
June 21st, 2012 marked the end of the snow crab fishery in Northern New Brunswick where the Fishing Vessel Thunderhawk, a 45' Guimond fishing hull, fished every season. On her way to collect traps to come home, she was met with less than ideal conditions and a series of events resulted in the loss of the Thunderhawk approximately 18 miles from the shores of Miscou Island. All crew members are safe.
Confederation Divers extends their deepest sympathies to Captain Peter Sock and his family for their loss of such an awesome vessel that hosted many dive charters in the Northumberland Strait. We hope Capt Sock finds a suitable replacement boat, although this will be difficult to compare to the Thunderhawk, for the upcoming dive and lobster season.
